Experiences of Autism and the Criminal Justice System

Dr Katie Maras (Royal Holloway, University of London and University of Bath), Dr Laura Crane (London South Bank University) and Professor Amina Memon (Royal Holloway, University of London) are a team of researchers interested in hearing about people’s experiences of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the Criminal Justice System (CJS).

Who is invited to take part in this research?
We would like to hear from people with ASD themselves and their parents/carers regarding their personal experiences of the CJS (be it as a victim, witness or a suspect), and also from those working with people with ASD in the CJS, including clinicians, intermediaries, the police and the judiciary. We are interested in your experiences – both positive and negative – of ASD and the CJS. Gaining a better understanding of people’s experiences of ASD within the CJS will help us improve future experiences in the long run.
