This week we are preparing the 2011 LiLaC newletter. A copy should be available on the ‘Lilac Network’ page in June.
Articles from April 2011
This week Courtenay, David and Becca are attending the Experimental Psychology Society conference in Oxford. On Thursday Courtenay is presenting, and her talk is titled ‘EyeSay! Language production processes in developmental disorders’. On Friday David is giving a talk entitled ‘Aberant eye movements in (some) children with autism spectrum disorders.’
On Saturday Courtenay and Becca attended the NAPLIC conference in Warwick. They ran an interactive workshop demonstrating how important it is to consider how tasks and language are processed, rather than just focussing on the end result. Workshop participants were given the opportunity to undertake demo tasks on the eye-tracker. These tasks illustrate that the technology can be used to implicitly reveal how a picture is visually explored and provide clues to reasons why the language used to describe the scene is chosen.
