Autism and the Criminal Justice System – City University London

Congratulations to Katie Maras from the RHUL Eyewitness Group for organising and chairing a very successful one-day conference at City University London this week.

The conference focussed on Autism in the Criminal Justice System from eyewitness testimony to victimisation and offending. A series of speakers presented throughout the day and the difficults faced by people with autism when encountering the legal process were highlighted. Presentations focussed on why people with autism get into trouble with the law, how to support defendants with autism and looking at the matter from a clinical and diagnostic perspective.
